The sky (really) was…
The other morning while I was still sipping my coffee in bed, curtains closed, my boys called out to me, “Look out the window!”
This sky!!!
Gazing at these gorgeous streaks of pinks and peaches brought back a wonderful flood of memories of the yummy warm pinks, peaches, and light periwinkle blues I got to work with while creating “The Sky Was.”
Scroll down for the first line of the ee cummings poem that inspired the title of this artwork (formatted in his quirky broken-up-words way… just like my torn collage papers!)
Love is… shared delight
It’s a special kind of delight - the kind that reminds me how known and loved I am - that my boys notice and share this kind of thing with me. Especially since coloured skies aren’t something they’re particularly into.
You don’t have to have the same delights or even understand each other’s delights to show your love. #delight
Wanna show (and grow!) your love by sharing delight?
What do your special peeps delight in? Ask them! (Being asked what you delight in - and getting to talk about what you delight in - is a delight in itself!)
Make a plan to share something with a loved one that you know they’ll delight in… Take them somewhere, bring them something, or do something together. Remember it doesn’t have to cost anything, be tangible, or be epic. Come up with something small, free, and mundane if you can… share a joke, re-tell a favourite story or memory, tell them something you found out that they’ll find interesting, make their favourite food, watch their favourite movie together, ask them to tell you about something you know they love talking about, describe something you saw or experienced that they would have loved to have seen or experienced, touch them the way they like to be touched… the possibilities are endless!
Delight in noticing the delightful impact of shared delight. What’s it like to watch your loved ones in a state of pure delight? And what does sharing delight do for your shared love for each other? (And what’s delightful about all of this?!)
