Small Serendipities

serendipity (n.) — the gift of finding unexpected beauty, meaning, or delight, by accident or in the places you least expected.

Through my years of working as a grief therapist and my own experiences of loss and disability, I know intimately how much of life asks us to create from what remains rather than what we wished we had. Made from repurposed off-cuts and colour and medium testers left over from my process of creating other artworks, Small Serendipities are cheerful embodiments of a simple, playful practice - sifting through studio scraps, looking for what catches my eye, what sparks curiosity, what delights.

The collection is about resourcefulness as a kind of faith: the belief that beauty and meaning are not reserved for those with the right materials, the right conditions, or the right circumstances. It is my hope that these little artworks will be tiny, colourful reminders of the value of curious, playful search as an approach to life. And that unexpected delight is always findable - and, even more importantly, always creatable. Even in the darkest of times.

The artworks are all mounted with a white passe-partout that is 30 × 30cm.
